My Sainsburys Colleague App
The Sainsbury’s Colleague Hub app is the official mobile app for colleagues, and it is one of the most misunderstood tools in the whole employee setup. Many people download it expecting to check payslips and book holiday, then find it does not do either. This guide explains exactly what the app is for, what it is not for, how to log in with your Digital ID, and where to go instead for the tasks it does not handle.
What Is the Sainsbury’s Colleague Hub App?
The Colleague Hub is Sainsbury’s official app for colleagues, published by Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd and available on both Android and iOS. A lot of colleagues call it the “MySainsburys app,” and that is fine — it is the same thing. You will hear both names used interchangeably.
Its real job is communication and quick in-store reference. It keeps you informed with company news, policy updates, and internal announcements, and it gives store colleagues fast access to information for handling customer and product queries on the shop floor. Push notifications alert you to updates in real time, so you see important messages without having to log into anything. Think of it as the app that keeps you in the loop, not the app that runs your pay and rota.
What the Colleague Hub App Does
- Company news and announcements. The latest updates from Sainsbury’s, policy changes, and internal communications, delivered to your phone.
- Store and product query support. Quick access to information that helps you answer customer questions in store.
- Push notifications. Real-time alerts for announcements and updates, so you do not have to go looking for them.
- Secure Digital ID login. You sign in with the same Sainsbury’s Digital ID you use across other internal systems.
- Mobile convenience. On-the-go access to company information from your phone or tablet, wherever you are.
What the App Does NOT Do — Read This Before You Rely on It
This is the single most important thing to understand about the Colleague Hub, and it is where nearly every colleague gets caught out. The app is built for information and communication, not for full HR and payroll. For the tasks that actually affect your pay and your working week, you need the OurSainsburys web portal, not the app.
Specifically, the app is not the place for:
- Payslips. Sainsbury’s payslips do not appear in the Colleague Hub app. You view and download them through the web portal, under MyHR.
- Your full rota. Detailed rota and shift management runs through Kronos (UKG), accessed via the portal. The app may show limited schedule information at best, but it is not the authoritative rota.
- Holiday requests. Booking and managing leave is done in Kronos through the portal, not the app.
- HR tasks. Updating bank details, address, and personal records all happen in MyHR on the web portal.
- P60s and tax documents. These live in the web portal’s tax documents section, not the app.
The clean way to remember the split: the Colleague Hub app keeps you informed, and the OurSainsburys web portal keeps you organised and paid. Use both, but know which one to reach for. Notably, the portal works fully in any mobile browser, so you do not actually need the app to do anything — you can do the whole lot from your phone’s browser if you prefer.
How to Download the Colleague Hub App
Getting the app is straightforward, but download only the official one. Fake “MySainsburys” apps do appear, and entering your work credentials into an unofficial app is a real security risk to your payroll and personal data.
- Open the Google Play Store on Android, or the Apple App Store on iPhone or iPad.
- Search for Sainsbury’s Colleague Hub.
- Check the publisher is Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd before installing.
- Tap Install (Android) or Get (iOS) and let it download.
The app is kept up to date through the stores like any other, and recent versions require a reasonably modern device — Android 7.0 or later, for example. If the app will not install or run, check your device meets the minimum version and that your operating system is up to date.
How to Log In with Your Digital ID
The Colleague Hub uses your Sainsbury’s Digital ID — the same work credentials you use for the OurSainsburys portal and other internal systems. There is no separate app-only account to set up.
- Open the app once it has installed.
- Enter your Sainsbury’s Digital ID — your work email and password, as set up during onboarding.
- Complete any security verification if prompted.
- You land on the hub, where news, announcements, and available tools sit in the menu.
If your login does not work, the cause is usually the same as it would be on the portal: a personal email used instead of your work Digital ID, an expired or recently changed password, or an account that is not yet fully activated. Because the app and the portal share the same credentials, a quick test is to try signing into the web portal in a browser. If that works and the app does not, the app may need updating or reinstalling. If neither works, the problem is your account, not the app.
Colleague Hub App vs OurSainsburys Portal: Which Do I Use?
| Task | Colleague Hub App | OurSainsburys Web Portal |
|---|---|---|
| Company news and announcements | Yes — its main purpose | Yes |
| Push notifications and alerts | Yes | No |
| Store and product query help | Yes | Limited |
| Payslips | No | Yes (MyHR) |
| Full rota (Kronos) | No / limited | Yes |
| Holiday requests | No | Yes (Kronos) |
| Bank details and personal records | No | Yes (MyHR) |
| P60 and tax documents | No | Yes |
A Tip If You Want App-Style Access to Everything
Because the web portal covers the tasks the app does not, and works in any mobile browser, a lot of colleagues skip relying on the app for HR and instead save the portal to their phone’s home screen. On both iOS and Android you can add any website to your home screen as a shortcut that looks and behaves like an app icon. That gives you one-tap access to payslips, rota, and MyHR through the browser — no unofficial third-party app required. Run the Colleague Hub app alongside it for news and alerts, and you have the full picture covered.
Common Colleague Hub App Problems
The App Keeps Logging Me Out or Will Not Load
Close the app fully and reopen it, check your internet connection, and make sure the app is updated to the latest version. If it still fails, uninstall and reinstall it from the official store. A fresh install clears most cache-related glitches.
I Can’t See My Payslip in the App
You never will — payslips are not in the Colleague Hub app by design. Switch to the OurSainsburys web portal (a mobile browser is fine) and go to MyHR to find them.
My Rota Looks Wrong or Incomplete in the App
The app is not the authoritative rota. Check Kronos through the web portal for your full, accurate schedule. What is in Kronos is what payroll and attendance are based on, so treat that as the real version if the two ever disagree.
My Login Is Rejected
Confirm you are using your work Digital ID and not a personal email, check your password has not expired, and test the same credentials on the web portal. If they fail everywhere, your account may need attention from IT rather than anything to do with the app itself.
Colleague Hub App FAQs
What is the Sainsbury’s Colleague Hub app?
It is Sainsbury’s official colleague app for company news, announcements, and in-store query support, available on Android and iOS. Many colleagues call it the MySainsburys app. It is not a payslip or full-rota app.
Can I see my payslip on the Colleague Hub app?
No. Payslips are only available through the OurSainsburys web portal under MyHR. The app does not carry them.
Can I check my rota on the app?
Only limited schedule information at most. Your full, authoritative rota is in Kronos, accessed through the web portal. For anything that matters — checking shifts before the week, spotting changes — use the portal.
How do I log in to the Colleague Hub app?
With your Sainsbury’s Digital ID — the same work email and password you use for OurSainsburys. There is no separate app login.
Is the Colleague Hub the same as the MySainsburys app?
Yes. “Colleague Hub” is the official name; “MySainsburys app” is the informal name many colleagues use. They refer to the same app.
Do I even need the app?
Not strictly. The web portal works fully in a mobile browser and covers everything the app does not, so some colleagues skip the app entirely and just save the portal to their home screen. The app’s advantage is push notifications and quick news access.
Why won’t the app accept my login?
Usually because a personal email was used instead of your work Digital ID, the password has expired, or the account is not fully activated. Test the same credentials on the web portal to work out whether it is an app issue or an account issue.
